[ICOS-pCO2-IC2020] Postponing ICOS OTC pCO2 inter-comparison
Dear all,
many of you were wondering if the inter-comparison will take place in August this year. The organizing committee met yesterday and we decided to postpone the exercise. Even if there is a chance that the major peak is of Covid-19 is over by August, it is too uncertain for everyone to plan shipping and travel to Belgium. Our all health is more important than the exercise.
We haven't decided about the new time of the exercise as there are many things to consider, but we hope to present a new date within the next 3 weeks. It is pretty sure that it will take place in the first half of 2021. We are aware that 2021 will become a busy year for all of us and we hope that most of you will still be able to attend. Maybe we need to get creative for some instruments as everyone will be overbooked next year, but we are looking forward to make it happen.
However, this doesn't mean you are off the hook for the next 6 month. We see it more the way that we won time and we can prepare things even more thoroughly: 1. We will go now through the groups around each instrument and contact the groups individually to produce some kind of "Standard Operating Procedures". 2. If you are aware of other interested parties please forward them to us. The more the whole community is involved the better the outcome will be.
As mentioned above, we hope to come back wit a final date in the next weeks. In the meantime stay safe and take care of you and your families. All the best and don't hesitate to contact me with any questions,
Tobias (on behalf of the organizing committee)
Dear Tobias and colleagues, this is a wise decision. We look forward to the revised dates and plans. Best wishes to all and take care Pedro
